Ingredients

  • 1 can (15 oz) low-sodium chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 24 tbsp water (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients by rinsing the chickpeas under cold water and draining well.
  2. In a food processor, combine chickpeas, basil leaves, lemon juice, garlic, tahini, salt, and half of the olive oil.
  3. Blend until smooth; add water gradually if needed to reach desired consistency.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt or lemon juice if necessary.
  5. Transfer to a serving bowl and drizzle remaining olive oil on top.
  6. Serve with pita chips or veggie sticks.
