  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp red gel food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  4. Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until combined.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. If desired, gently fold in white chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop rounded balls of dough onto lined baking sheets two inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes; edges should be firm while centers remain soft.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets before transferring to wire racks.
