Description

Chicken Broccoli Orzo is a comforting dish that beautifully marries tender chicken, vibrant broccoli, and creamy orzo in a single bowl. This delightful recipe is perfect for busy weeknights and family gatherings alike, offering rich flavors and a colorful presentation that will impress everyone at your table. With just a few simple ingredients and straightforward instructions, you can create a meal that feels special while being easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 pounds)
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup grated fresh Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper; add to the pan and cook until golden brown on both sides.
  2. Once the chicken is nearly cooked through, add minced garlic and broccoli florets. Cook until broccoli is bright green and tender (about 3-5 minutes).
  3. Stir in uncooked orzo pasta along with chicken broth. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low and cover the skillet. Allow to simmer until orzo absorbs most of the liquid.
  4. Lower the heat further; stir in heavy cream until combined. Gradually add grated Parmesan cheese until melted into a creamy sauce.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, adding red pepper flakes for spice if desired.
  6. Serve warm, garnished with extra Parmesan or fresh herbs.
